Stage Manager (NYC)

Seeking an experienced Stage Manager for our performances on November 18 & 19 at Peridance Center. The Stage Managerʻs responsibilities include but are not limited to calling all lighting, sound, and projector cues, in charge of gel changes, stagehands, scenery and/or props of any kind. The Stage Manager is also the liaison between all production staff including the Dancers and Artistic Directors, to the Lighting Designer, Sound Board Operator and House Manager. 

The Stage Manager is expected to work side by side with the Co-Artistic Directors and record the Directorsʻ decisions about blocking and notes for the cast, keeping track of logistical and scheduling details and communicating what goes on in rehearsals to the rest of the team.
Additional responsibilities include:

  • communicating the director's wishes to lighting designers and other production staff

  • recording all blocking, plus all the light, sound and set change cues, in the prompt book

  • coordinating the work of the stage crew

  • calling cues and possibly actors' entrances during performance

  • overseeing the entire show each time it is performed

  • mark out the dimensions of the set on the floor of the rehearsal hall

  • make sure rehearsal props are available for the dancers

  • attend all rehearsals and performances  (Dates: October 18th, 20th, 25th, 27th, November 1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th)

Desired skills include: 

  • Previous experience as a Stage Manager for a dance company

  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

  • Good communicator and collaborator

  • Excellent color vision

Hours: Rehearsals are Wednesday and Fridays noon-4pm on October 18th, 20th, 25th, 27th, November 1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, and 15th, Tech rehearsal: Nov 17th 7pm-midnight; Performances: Nov 18th and 19th all day

Lighting Designer (NYC)

Seeking an experienced Lighting Designer for our performances on November 18th and 19th, 2023 at Peridance Theater (NYC).  A Lighting Designer will work with the Director, Artistic Director and/or Lighting Technicians to create the visuals for lighting, lasers, strobes, spots and sometimes video screens for a performance. Responsibilities include and are not limited to: 

  • Design the lighting needed for the performance

  • Be aware of health and safety aspects

  • Write a lighting plot/script to note where there are any lighting changes

  • Attend technical rehearsals

  • Be aware of budgets and energy use

Desired skills include: 

  • Technical skills: experience in lighting design (portfolio / work sample required) and lighting board operation 

  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

  • Good communicator and collaborator

  • Excellent color vision

Hours, Start Date, and Duration

Hours: Rehearsals are Wednesday and Fridays noon-4pm on starting on September 13th, 2023. The lighting designer will work with the Co-artistic directors and stage manager to set meeting hours for lighting design. The lighting designer is required to attend the technical rehearsal on November 17th, 7pm-midnight.
